Welcome to the Residence at RiverHouse

located on the Deas Slough - Delta, B.C., Canada

The Residence at RiverHouse was built in 2001-02 and consists of forty-five strata condos. Our complex is a resort-like community about 20 minutes from Vancouver (host of the 2010 Winter Olympics), B.C., the Washington Border, the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal and the Vancouver International Airport.

We are located on the Deas Slough in sunny Delta in the Ladner area near the intersection of Highways 99 and 17. You can visit us by car, boat or float plane. A fresh water marina with a waterside restaurant and pub are located next door.

We face the Deas Island Regional Park which is situated on the Fraser River and the Deas Slough. The Deas Slough provides wake boarding, boating, kayaking, sculling and waterskiing on the water side of our residence.

Our building is on the Millennium Trail bordered by flat lands that are conducive to walking, biking and birding. And, in the distance, we are surrounded by various mountain views including Mt. Baker, Washington.

We call it Our Home on the Slough.

What is a Slough?

On the west coast of the United States and Canada, a slough is a secondary channel of a river delta or a narrow channel in a shallow salt-water marsh, usually flushed by the tide. While this is similar to the term as used in the eastern U.S., the trees native to the west do not grow into the waterway to form a swamp. The secondary channel meaning is particularly common on the lower reaches of the Fraser River in British Columbia, from Laidlaw downstream to the river's estuary. Important sloughs on the Fraser are the Deas, Nicomen and Sea Bird Sloughs, adjacent to the islands of the same name. In the Pacific Northwest of the United States, and in British Columbia, a slough also refers to a slow-moving, canal-like, river or channel, such as the Sammamish Slough, and can appear in the names of oxbow lakes, e.g. Meadowbrook Slough of Snoqualmie River in Washington State.
